Writing Classes

will run every 2^nd Friday: October 29, November 12, 26 and December 10 from 10:30-12pm.  Please email me at salt@rogers.com to confirm interest in these classes. Writing classes will run for a four-week session and will cost $20 per student for the four weeks. This class will focus on a variety of approaches to creative writing and is open to both reluctant and eager writers in the middle and high school years. 

 

French Conversation Classes

These classes will run weekly and are set to begin next Tuesday, October 19th from 11:00am-12:30pm. There is still room for a couple more students for any others who are interested. Classes cost $7.50 per 1.5hr class, $60 total for the 8 weeks, 12 hours of instruction.

 We will be using the French In Action program which is used in some universities as a first year French course. The complete program is very comprehensive and we will be using a modified version of all the components of the program – video, audio, grammar, oral practice, aural exercises. No previous knowledge of French is required. Please contact Sharon at salt@rogers.com if you are interested in joining the French Conversation Classes.

 

Drop-In Resource Centre

The Drop-In offered last spring is free of charge and will begin in mid October. The Drop-In will have a specific focus each week and topics will be announced via email, SCHIL newsletter and on this site. Any parents willing to help out with English, math or science, offer a class in sewing, entrepreneurship or any other ideas, please contact Sharon at salt@rogers.com

 

Online Writing and Essay Critique

Unsure how to mark your teen’s writing? Email their writing to salt@rogers.com for an encouraging critique with many useful ideas and suggestions for improvement.

 

If they are not engaged in a formal study of English, I can also assign writing projects to your teen and help them through the writing process via email.

Included in each Writing Critique:

• Review, proofreading and identification of areas which need further attention, and
• Practical suggestions on how to better approach your question
